| I think it depends on the purpose of a particular law. Some laws may be to test obedience: Don’t do this solely because I say so; some because of the intrinsic wrongness: Don’t do this evil; and some because it is a criteria to belong to a group: Drink this in remembrance of me. There may be other examples.The concept of standards existing regardless of (and prior to) our awareness only seems to apply to “refrain from evil.” |
